Professor Dr. Anders Warell is Director of Research at the Division of Industrial Design, Lund University, Sweden. He studied engineering, product design and human factors at Linköping University and industrial design at the School of Design and Crafts at Gothenburg University, and received his PhD on Product Identity and Design Aesthetics from Chalmers University of Technology in 2002. He was part of developing the Sason School of Design Master programme in Automotive Industrial Design Engineering at Chalmers and was responsible for the course programme on advanced form design, visual product brand identity and project courses. While at Chalmers, he co-founded Nordcode, the Nordic Network for Research on Communicative Product Design, which has organized yearly research seminars at the Nordic design universities since 2003. In 2005, he joined the School of Design at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand, where he was the Head of Subject and Director of Research in Industrial Design. At Massey, he was the co-founder of Affect – the Centre for Affective Design Research, a collaboration initiative which aimed at supporting research and knowledge transfer between academia and industry in the field of design and innovation. In 2008, he joined the Division of Industrial Design at Lund University. He currently leads the research at the Division, supervises PhD and Master students, and teaches into the industrial design and other programmes. As a designer and researcher, he has collaborated with numerous international as well as small companies. Research interests include formgiving processes, design methods and innovation processes, product brand identity, form aesthetics, design semantics, user centered design, user experiences, and strategic design.





Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andre Liem

Associate Professor Dr. André Liem has been teaching at the Department of Product Design, Norwegian University of Science and Technology since January 2005. He has PhD in Ergonomics from the University of Lorraine and an MSc in Industrial Design Engineering from TU Delft. Prior to his engagement at NTNU, Dr. Liem has previously taught and developed the Industrial Design programs at two institutions; the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanayang Polytechnic (Singapore). Research interests include design process and methodology, design education, Strategic Design & Management and Design Thinking. In terms of design practice, he has also undertaken design consultancy projects in the Netherlands, U.K., U.S.A. and Singapore. He also holds an advisory position at Designinsight, an Industrial Design Consultancy in Singapore. Dr. Liem has also published widely in conferences and journals such as International Journal of Product Development, Design & Technology, Journal of Usability Studies, Journal of Design Research, Travail Humain, etc.
